"Lesbian" and the connotation.
Lesbian has become a very watered down term over the years. A good chunk of history, culture and wisdom was disregarded and ignored. I feel as though "Dyke" describes me much better than "Lesbian". Lesbian sounds soft and gentrified. Dyke sounds loud, prideful. I hold pride in the fact that I love women. I hold pride in the fact that my connection to womanhood is unique in its own right.
